From Mrs Hughes and Mrs Cliffe
We would just like to say a very special thank you to all of the children in Year 3 for a fantastic year. We are sad to see you go.
We would also like to say a massive thank you for all the wonderful cards and gifts received.
Your generosity is very much appreciated.
We wish you all the very best of luck in Year 4.
Week 5 M & M maths challenge
We had a great maths lesson today learning about fractions with
M & M sweets. And guess what we did after the game?...... You'll have to ask us when we get home!!!!!!
We have been working very hard this week making a Poem about the visit we made along the canal.
We have had a great week learning about different units of measurement with Mr Cleaver. We were finding out how to weigh accurately using scales.
We had a very special visitor to our class before Easter. As you can see Mrs Jones' new addition was not at all phased by all the fuss and excitement in class.
Anglos versus Saxons!!!
We took ourselves back to Anglo Saxon times where we had a real live debate on invaders and settlers.
Majority of the class voted to battle!!!!!
Happy Easter from the staff in Year 3. We hope you have a lovely Easter break.
The current handwriting group will finish on Friday 1st April. Many thanks for your support and getting your children to these sessions.
We have seen a massive improvement in every child's handwriting.
Handwriting groups are starting up again. So get your pencils sharpened!! Or if you are on a pen licence then you can use your pen.
Look out for your letters coming home soon. It will be same as last time - a three week rota basis Monday to Friday 8.30 - 8.55am.
Here are our finished Roman buildings. Impressive eh!!!!!
DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
This week we have been busy in class designing our Roman Buildings. Here are a few clips of the stages of 'the big build'!!!!!!
We have yet to put the finishing touches to our designs so watch this space for the final results.
Our second lot of hand writers has come to an end. The children have definitely improved with their handwriting skills. One child said, "I like the handwriting group because I used to be a scruffy writer but now I'm neat"
Letters are going out today for our third lot of hand writers to commence in January.
We had a lovely trip to the Dewa Centre in Chester. We were taken back in time and became Roman soldiers for the day, after convincing our tour guide that we weren't Celts!!!!
Enjoy the photographs we took on the day.
Be Seen Be Safe
Joe Morris from Sefton Council visited our class today to tell us how to keep street safe. We are sure the children enjoyed this session and learnt how to keep safe on our streets.
A big thank you so far to all the children who have attended the handwriting sessions this term. They are doing amazingly well considering the early start in the morning!!!!
Every child will have the opportunity to attend these sessions.
Water bottle reminder
Please can you ensure your child brings in a bottle of water every day for school. There is a school water fountain, if they do forget, however they will only be allowed to use this during break and lunch times.
Year 3 staff
Year 3 are really enjoying their recorder sessions with Mr Taylor. If your child has been practising at home please ensure recorders are back in school every Wednesday for their lesson.
Welcome to our Class web-page. What a great start to the new school year we have had so far. The children are settling into the Juniors very well and learning their new routines.
A BIG Well Done to Tilly and Niamh who are the first two children to be awarded with Star of the Week!
