Week 5 M & M maths challenge

We had a great maths lesson today learning about fractions with

M & M sweets. And guess what we did after the game?...... You'll have to ask us when we get home!!!!!!

Week 5

We have been working very hard this week making a Poem about the visit we made along the canal.

Maths

We have had a great week learning about different units of measurement with Mr Cleaver.  We were finding out how to weigh accurately using scales.

Mrs Jones

We had a very special visitor to our class before Easter.  As you can see Mrs Jones' new addition was not at all phased by all the fuss and excitement in class.

Anglos versus Saxons!!!

We took ourselves back to Anglo Saxon times where we had a real live debate on invaders and settlers.

Majority of the class voted to battle!!!!!

Happy Easter from the staff in Year 3.  We hope you have a lovely Easter break.

The current handwriting group will finish on Friday 1st April.  Many thanks for your support and getting your children to these sessions.

We have seen a massive improvement in every child's handwriting. smiley

Handwriting Groups

Our second lot of hand writers has come to an end.  The children have definitely improved with their handwriting skills.  One child said, "I like the handwriting group because I used to be a scruffy writer but now I'm neat"

Letters are going out today for our third lot of hand writers to commence in January.

Roman Chester

We had a lovely trip to the Dewa Centre in Chester.  We were taken back in time and became Roman soldiers for the day, after convincing our tour guide that we weren't Celts!!!!

Enjoy the photographs we took on the day.

Be Seen Be Safe

Joe Morris from Sefton Council visited our class today to tell us how to keep street safe. We are sure the children enjoyed this session and learnt how to keep safe on our streets.

Handwriting groups

A big thank you so far to all the children who have attended the handwriting sessions this term.  They are doing amazingly well considering the early start in the morning!!!!smileysmiley

Every child will have the opportunity to attend these sessions.

For our class assembly

Geography Day. Today we have been studying Italy - learning more about where the Romans came from, what Italy is like now and studying Mt. Vesuvius.

Art Week. We have worked very hard this week and found lots of hidden art talent in Y3. We have been studying Hokusai and had a go at drawing our own mountains (linked to our Geography topic). The outcomes were very impressive!

Building and Erupting Volcanoes! We have had a super time making volcanoes from paper mache, painting them and evn erupting them for our Science and Geography topic.

Inspirations & Aspirations Week. What a busy week full of exciting visitors - we certainly have some very ambitious children in Y3!

Water bottle reminder

Please can you ensure your child brings in a bottle of water every day for school. There is a school water fountain, if they do forget, however they will only be allowed to use this during break and lunch times.

Many thanks.

Year 3 staff

Year 3 are really enjoying their recorder sessions with Mr Taylor.  If your child has been practising at home please ensure recorders are back in school every Wednesday for their lesson.
