A massive well done to the children who attended Mrs Cliffe's handwriting group. The children worked extremely hard. Thank you also to the parents who helped to get their children to the group.
What a great start we have had to the summer term - the children are looking super smart and are definitely nearly ready for Y3!
This week, we learnt lots about Florence Nightingale and wrote some fantastic letters, using exclamation sentences. What a delight it was to see such wonderful writing!
We have also been learning about HOMOPHONES - can your child remember what they are and give you some examples?

What a wonderful trip we had to Knowsley Safari Park in the first week back - the children were so well behaved and enjoyed every minute of it. As Finley said "This is the best trip ever!"

What a lovely two weeks we have had in Y2. From a visit from Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf (who has now thankfully been found and arrested) to designing and creating finger puppets in Design & Technology.

This certainly is the best class in the world!!! The Y2 team are SO impressed with how well all the children have settled back into school - give yourselves a pat on the back!
This week, we have had lots of exciting things happening.
A huge well done to those children who received the behaviour reward on Thursday - what a treat to have a film afternoon with goodies!
Also, congratulations to Abi for winning the cinema tickets and to Marni for being Star of the Week this week.
We had lots of fun on Friday with the start of 'Healthy Habits' focus weeks. This week, children learnt about the different types of food and why we need them.
We hope you all have a wonderful time and get plenty of rest, ready for Spring term learning!

I am sure all mums and dads will agree with how wonderful the show was and are just as proud as the Y2 team are of the children. They worked so hard to learn all of the words and their performance was fantastic - what a lovely way to start Christmas!
Plurals - we looked at the rules for adding 's' and 'es' to plural nouns. Can your child remember and tell you the rules?

Wow - Y2 children have really impressed us with their super maths. We have been learning to subtract through addition using a number line, which is quite tricky.

Y2 children have been working very hard writing instructions on how to trap stone giants and water goblins. They also wrote their own chosen set of instructions for dragons.
In Maths, children wrote their own addition word problems, using place value to know work out the answers.

Anti-bullying week got off to a great start with the Bully Busters Assembly and circle time with Miss Goulbourn. Y2 wrote some wonderful sets of instructions on how to say no to bullying.

Week 1
What a wonderful first week we have had back in school.
I was SO impressed with everyone's excellent behaviour on the school trip - you made us all really proud.
The Jewish Synagogue was beautiful and we listened to Roy tell us about the Jewish beliefs.
After that, we went to the Walker Art Gallery for lunch before heading to World Museum to explore.
Before going home, we went back to the Walker Art Gallery to do a variety of activities before going on a painting hunt.
GEOGRAPHY DAY - What a great day we had learning about Madagascar

ART ATTACK
Every year group are lucky to have a full two days focusing on art. Today, we looked at making patterns using a variety of pencils and applying different pressure to make the marks lighter ad darker. We then looked at Samuel Pepys and drew a portrait of him.
We definitely have some amazing artists in Y2!
