  • ECO SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG AWARD

Fri 20 Mar 2015 Mrs Hargreaves
A huge well done to everyone for working so hard to achieve the Eco Schools Green Flag Award for the second time. We first achieved the award over two years ago after many years of hard work. On Wednesday an eco assessor came to school to see if we should achieve the green flag for the second time. The assessor was taken around the school by the eco team, who told her all the amazing things we continue to do to look after our environment. She was so impressed that she didn't hesitate in renewing our green flag award! We will now get a second green flag for our school which we are hoping to display at the front of the school grounds on our very own flag pole! Well done everyone! You are amazing!!

  • World Book Day

    Thu 05 Mar 2015 C. Miller

Today was World Book Day and Melling children as always were out to impress with a fantastic range of costumes! Princesses, super heroes, Harry Potters...the list is endless. Staff, too, were out in force: Where's Wally proved to be the most popular with both Mrs Whittle and Miss Mageer in the same costume! Thank you for all your help and support as always.

Classes paired up as reading buddies during lessons. it was so lovely to listen to the older children sharing books with our little people! Visits to our well-stocked school library were also on the menu.

Throughout the week, each class has been focusing on a book/ books from another culture: China, India, Africa to name but a few. We hope to display a selection of the fantastic writing that has been produced.
