  • Eurovision - Eggtravaganza

    Wed 29 Mar 2023
Following the announcement of EuroFest - a two-week cultural festival that will run alongside the Eurovision Song Contest - Liverpool's education programme, EuroLearn is now getting under way and will offer youngsters from early years to secondary schools a chance to be inspired by Eurovision.

The visual arts strand takes its inspiration from the tradition of egg painting, known as Pysanka in Ukraine. Aintree              Davenhill, Holy Rosary and Melling Primary would like to        unite our school communities in an ‘Euro - Eggtravagansa’            and  raise money for charity at the same time as having lots          of fun. Please see powerpoint presentation on the Curriculum section entitled Eurovision.

  • PRE SCHOOL PROVISION ON THE SITE OF MELLING PRIMARY

PRIVATE PRE-SCHOOL PROVISION ON THE SITE OF  MELLING PRIMARY

As you may know, an 18 place nursery has been built on the site of Melling Primary. The intention is for this to be taken over and managed by a private pre-school provider. Provision will be for 3 and 4 year olds in the first instance, with the possibility of 2 year old provision (depending on the provider).

Whilst this provision is on the site of Melling Primary, it will not be a school nursery. We do however, have some input into the type of provider who may bid to manage the business and we will most certainly be looking for a provider who fits in with our school ethos and qualities.

Whilst we can take names of children whose parents would wish for them to attend the provision, the final decision with regards to the allocation of places will remain with the provider. We would like to think that families of Melling Primary would be given priority, but we cannot guarantee this.

The process is now out of our hands – the documentation for tender will be placed on Sefton’s procurement website in the next couple of weeks and then the tender/bidding process begins. If the process is successful we will hope to have the provision ready to open by September 23 at the very latest.

We are prepared to keep a list of names/contact details for expression of interest in securing a place which we will then hand over to the chosen provider. However, to reiterate, we do not have decision making power as to who will be given a place.

I hope this clarifies the position.
